2018 Best Medicare Supplement Florida

Medicare, the federal health insurance program, alone does not cover all of your medical expenses. With all the deductibles and co-payments, you could end up having out-of-pocket expenses.

A Medicare supplement insurance plan can help you cover these costs.

Medicare Supplement Plans (also known as Medigap Plans) are health insurance plans designed to supplement coverage under original Medicare and fill in certain gaps in original Medicare coverage.

Medicare Supplements are standardized plans designed by letters A-N with each letter plan featuring a different level of gap coverage.

Are you like…

“I do not quite understand how the whole health care system works, specifically Medicare. There are so many rules, exceptions, deductibles, co-pays, ‘donut holes’ and supplementary insurance that it’s like a deep jungle without any walking paths.”

Best Medicare Supplement in Florida

A Medicare Supplement is a private plan also known as a Medigap plan. Supplements are standardized and identified by letter (A-N).

Some Medicare Supplement plans were eliminated as redundant with the Medicare Modernization Act.

Each Medicare Supplement plan (by letter) has a different level of gap coverage and the plans are intended to help fill the gaps (costs to seniors) in original Medicare.

Because Medicare Supplements are standardized, each Supplement of a certain letter (for example: Plan F) must offer identical gap coverage. Medicare Supplements charge a monthly premium and pay gaps after Medicare pays it’s portion of cost for covered services.

Insurance companies can only sell a “standardized” plans identified by letters A through N. All standardized policies must offer the same basic benefits, no matter which insurance company sells it. Since the coverage is the same no matter which insurer you choose, the only difference is the price and the service you receive.

Since January 1, 2006, Medicare Supplement policies do not include prescription drug coverage. If you have a Medicare Supplement policy without prescription drug coverage, you can join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) during the Medicare Advantage Annual Enrollment Period (AEP).
